As you may or may not know, on Thanksgiving morning Jeff and I got up bright and early and joined our friends (and avid runners) Jamey and Andrea for the Race for the Hungry 5K. Jeff and I signed up about a month before hand with the goal of running the whole thing in under 30 minutes. We half heartedly 'trained' for the 5k and it got us up off of the couch a few times a week leading up to the run. It felt good to be active again as both Jeff and I had gotten completely lazy after the wedding. Unfortunately our months of inactivity got the better of us and neither one of us was able to run the whole thing let alone finish in under 30 minutes. In fact I'm pretty sure Jamey and Andrea lapped us as they did the 10K. So, Andrea mentioned another 5k coming up in April. This time, Jeff and I are in a little better shape. I 've been attending my fitness camp twice a week as well as running once or twice a week and Jeff has been playing basketball and golfing a lot. So we're giving it another try....we have 18 days to prep us for this run and I think we can do it this time. I know what you're thinking. Who has to train for a 5k? It's 3.1 measly miles! Although I ran track in high school and college, I was a sprinter and jumper and never had the endurance to run much more than a mile (and never had the desire for that matter). So a 5k is a challenge for both Jeff and I! We'll keep you posted on how we do, race is April 18th.
